Beach racing.. what is it? The Papakura Motorcycle Club has been running
these events since the 1930's and indeed Beachracing has been the
beginning of many famous careers. Beach races are sprint events for
motorcycles held on hard flat sand below the high tide mark.
Two markers are placed 800 meters apart to form two 800 meter straights.
Racing then takes place in an anti clockwise direction for up to 16 laps.
